General information, not advice

My Financial Position is an educational benchmarking tool. It does not provide financial advice, and should not be treated as a substitute for professional guidance.

⚠️
Not financial advice. The information provided on My Financial Position is general in nature and does not take into account your personal objectives, financial situation, or needs. You should always seek advice from a licensed Australian financial adviser before making any financial decisions.
Not Financial Advice

This is a benchmarking tool, not an advisory service

My Financial Position does not hold an Australian Financial Services Licence (AFSL) and is not authorised to provide financial product advice. Nothing on this website constitutes financial advice, investment advice, tax advice, legal advice, or any other kind of professional advice.

The percentile rankings, comparisons, benchmarks, and projections on this site are provided for general informational and educational purposes only. They are designed to help you understand your approximate financial position relative to other Australians — nothing more.

Before making any financial decision — including decisions about superannuation, investments, insurance, debt, or retirement planning — you should consult a licensed financial adviser who can assess your complete circumstances.

General Information Only

Benchmarks are estimates, not guarantees

All benchmark data on My Financial Position is sourced from publicly available Australian government and industry statistics. These figures represent population averages and distributions — they are not tailored to your individual situation.

Your personal financial position is affected by many factors that our tool cannot account for, including:

• Your specific cost of living, location, and household composition

• Tax obligations and concessions specific to your circumstances

• Career trajectory, job security, and income volatility

• Health, disability, or caring responsibilities

• Inheritance, windfalls, or other non-income wealth events

• Your personal risk tolerance, time horizon, and financial goals

A number on a percentile scale does not tell you whether you are making good or bad financial decisions. It simply shows where you sit relative to the average.

Data Accuracy

Approximate data based on published averages

Benchmark figures on My Financial Position are derived from survey data published by the ABS, ASFA, APRA, and RBA. These are the most authoritative publicly available sources in Australia, but they have inherent limitations:

Survey data involves sampling: Published statistics are estimates based on a sample of the Australian population, not a census. Margins of error apply.

Data lag: Survey results are typically 12–24 months behind the publication date. Economic conditions — including inflation, wage growth, and asset prices — may have changed materially since the underlying data was collected.

Approximation and interpolation: Where published data does not include exact percentile breakpoints, we use interpolation methods to estimate values. This introduces additional approximation.

Not personalised: Average and median figures cannot account for the wide diversity in individual financial circumstances within any age group.

We update our benchmarks when new data is published. However, all figures should be treated as approximate guides only, not precise or authoritative measurements of your financial position.
